At the beginning of the movie Stranger than Fiction (Which is an awesome movie, by the way, besides the fact that psychologists are portrayed in a negative manner), Harold is living life completely on autopilot. His id is getting completely repressed by his ego, and he rarely needs to make any decisions at all, therefore his superego is seldom used. He rarely speaks and would most likely bee considered a boring person. As the movie progresses, however, Harold begins to enjoy life a little more, let his id loose, and begin to let go of the rationality principle. Harold learned to play punk rock songs on his electric guitar, did not keep a regular schedule, and engaged in activities that were interesting to him, rather than keeping up with his daily schedule.
